After several days of alerts that reached the orange level, the Meteorological Service has officially discontinued its riverine flood alert for the Caroni and South Oropouche River basins.
The green-level cancellation took effect at 10 am on Saturday, following steady improvement in river conditions and no further significant rainfall in the forecast.
The Caroni River, particularly near El Carmen and upstream areas, has fallen well below critical thresholds. Further downstream at Bamboo Settlement #3, water levels remain elevated but are now below 80% of river capacity and continue to decline slowly.
