Parts of the Ca­roni Riv­er, in the ar­eas of El Car­men and Tumpuna, are over ca­pac­i­ty, the Min­istry of Rur­al De­vel­op­ment and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment has con­firmed.

At 8:00 am to­day, the Ca­roni Riv­er in the El Car­men area was at 109% ca­pac­i­ty, while the Ca­roni Tumpuna Riv­er was at 109% ca­pac­i­ty.

And the Min­istry is warn­ing that sev­er­al oth­er rivers are dan­ger­ous­ly close to breach­ing their banks:
