A prison officer was ambushed and shot by gunmen on Friday night after leaving the Maximum Security Prison, Arouca.
The suspected gunmen crashed their vehicle as they fled the crime scene moments later.
The police yesterday confirmed that two suspects in the attempted murder of officer Govindra Balgobin were apprehended.
