THE police commissioner, as well as the heads of the Prison Service and the Prison's Association, have expressed in unison their outrage and condemnation over the brazen shooting of 38-year-old prison officer Govindra Balgobin on the night of June 20 near the Piarco intersection.
According to police, Balgobin, of Barrackpore, was seated in his parked car near Piarco Plaza around 8.30 pm when gunmen opened fire on him before fleeing in a white wagon along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway.
Balgobin had earlier finished his shift at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.
