PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the days of empty diplomacy are over as she lauded the recent “successful” visit of India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, which resulted in the signing of eight additional Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to benefit Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking with the Express yesterday, the Prime Minister said the country had, over the past year, secured tremendous support from international partners, including the United States in the area of national security and India, which she said has delivered on all commitments made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his July 2025 visit.
“A previous government would have signed bilateral agreements with India and never followed through on these agreements to see them actioned. What sense is diplomacy when it is empty and without any purpose? My government is different, it is much more progressive and proactive,” she said.
