PresĀiĀdent ChrisĀtine KanĀgaĀloo has deĀscribed Eid-ul-Fitr as a peĀriĀod of āgratĀiĀtude, genĀerosĀiĀty, reĀnewĀal, and deep spirĀiĀtuĀal reĀflecĀtion.ā
In a stateĀment markĀing the fesĀtiĀval, she notĀed that Eid sigĀniĀfies the end of a peĀriĀod of sacĀriĀfice and deĀvoĀtion while enĀcourĀagĀing reĀnewed comĀmitĀment to comĀpasĀsion, disĀciĀpline, and serĀvice to othĀers.
āOur naĀtion is ofĀten deĀscribed as a ārainĀbow peoĀple,ā a soĀciĀety in which diĀverĀsiĀty is not mereĀly tolĀerĀatĀed, but emĀbraced and celĀeĀbratĀed,ā the PresĀiĀdent said.
