Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday declared that while her body may appear frail and small, it houses the enduring spirit and boundless love of a mother—one ready to lead a government which will put the 99% first.
She was speaking before thousands at the United National Congress (UNC) final “Big Bad” general election rally at the Aranjuez Savannah—“sacred ground”, she called it—as it marks the birthplace of the UNC.
Persad-Bissessar created history in 2010 becoming the first woman prime minister in Trinidad and Tobago who led the People’s Partnership government. Since then the UNC has suffered two consecutive general election defeats.
