Member of Parliament for San Fernando East Brian Manning, believes that terminated Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) workers are being victimised and that they have a case for the court.
“We believe that these former workers’ rights have been violated, and we believe that the court will see it our way and that the workers will have to be compensated for being mistreated by this Government for no good reason,” Manning said.
One monthly-paid worker who was laid off under the programme said should she lose her home, she and her family will have to sit by the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Khadijah Ameen.
