A High Court judge on July 23 ordered the immediate release of the attorney who had been detained since the weekend, without charge, on suspicion of harbouring a fugitive.

Justice Nadia Kangaloo gave the order after issuing a writ of habeas corpus earlier in the day, directing police to bring the Sangre Grande attorney before the court.

Kangaloo found that his continued detention was unlawful.
