(Kaieteur Sports) The Bayroc National Stadium in Linden has emerged as Guyana’s only track and field facility currently listed as certified by World Athletics.

According to track and field’s global governing body’s latest listing of certified athletics facilities, Bayroc is classified as a Class 2 certified venue. The track was officially commissioned in February. World Athletics classifies its facilities according to specific technical requirements.

Class 1 certification, generally associated with the highest level of international competition, including the Olympic Games and World Championships, requires a comprehensive technical audit of the structural and technical aspects of the stadium and venue.
