National Schools Athletics Championships returns to Linden in 2027

Kaieteur Sports – The National Schools Athletics Championships will return to Linden for the first time in nearly two decades, with the 2027 edition scheduled for March 3-5 at the Bayroc National Stadium.

The announcement was made by Minister of Education Sonia Parag during yesterday’s launch of the official countdown to the 2027 CARIFTA Games, which Guyana will host for the first time since the regional junior championships were introduced in 1972.

Popularly known as ‘Nationals’, the event was last held in Linden in 2008 at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, making next year’s staging at the newly developed Bayroc National Stadium a significant return for one of the country’s most important junior sporting events, to the community known for dominating the championships.
