A wed­ding ring and a large sum of cash were among the items stolen when cut­lass-wield­ing ban­dits broke in­to the home of a La Ro­maine busi­ness­man ear­ly Wednes­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the 30-year-old man and his wife were awak­ened by a loud noise out­side their bed­room around 3 am. With­in sec­onds, two men dressed in dark-coloured hood­ies, one armed with a cut­lass, burst in­to the room.

One of the sus­pects bound the hus­band’s hands with plas­tic straps while the oth­er ran­sacked the house. The ban­dits stole a bag con­tain­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly 80 grams of gold scraps, one white gold wed­ding ring, three gold hand bands, one Louis Vuit­ton hand­bag, and three gold be­ras.
