The second-placed Club Sando (42 points) will be aiming to cut Defence Force's lead to one point when the teams resume their quest for the 2025/26 TT Premier Football League (TTPFL) tier one title this weekend.
The holders Defence Force (46 points), are still unbeaten after 18 games, but they did need an 89th-minute goal from national under-20 striker Phillip Nelson to eke out a 2-2 draw against the cellar-placed Point Fortin Civic in their last match. Things won't get any easier for the Army/Coast Guard combination as they seek back-to-back crowns, as they will face rivals Miscellaneous Police FC (36 points) from 4 pm at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar on March 15. Police are currently third on the 12-team table. On March 11, the lawmen lost 1-0 to the fifth-placed AC Port of Spain (34 points), as the teams completed a fixture which had been cut short by a power outage at the St James Police Barracks on March 7.
Sando, who will be without one of the league's leading shot-stoppers, Teshorne Ragoo, because of international duty, will hope their lights aren't cut when they face the fourth-placed Prisons FC (35 points) from 8 pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva on March 14. When the teams met earlier this season, a then-unbeaten Prisons edged Sando 1-0, just days after threatening to pull out of the TTPFL season because of financial difficulties. With those financial troubles seemingly in the rearview mirror, the teams are expected to put on a grand show as they look to cement their spots for Concacaf competition.
