Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has signalled that recent increases in traffic fines could be reconsidered, but only if there is a demonstrable improvement in public behaviour on the nation’s roads.
She said the ball is in the public’s court and their behaviour will determine any future changes.
The Prime Minister told the Express yesterday that traffic fines may be reduced if, by the end of the first half of 2026, there is a decline in road deaths as well as reckless and drunk driving offences.
