MINISTER of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Sean Sobers yesterday represented Trinidad and Tobago at a high-level ministerial dialogue on the resurgence of political terrorism hosted by United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, DC.
Trinidad and Tobago is among a select group of countries invited to participate in the discussions, which are aimed at strengthening international cooperation to address emerging threats posed by politically motivated terrorism, a release from the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs stated yesterday.
The ministry said the Government recognises that terrorism, extremism and politically motivated violence pose significant threats to democratic institutions, public safety and economic stability. It said Trinidad and Tobago remains committed to working with regional and international partners to strengthen security cooperation, improve information sharing and support collective action against transnational threats.
