RESIDENTS of Third Street, off Saddle Road, Maraval, said they saw nothing strange in their community until a large team of armed officers descended on the area yesterday morning and carried out a successful, but bloody, rescue of kidnapped pilot Daniel Kawall.

Kawall, 62, a Caribbean Airlines captain who was kidnapped last Wednesday, was rescued shortly before 11 a.m. from an apartment complex located at Cedar Ridge, off Third Street, Maraval.

One man found guarding him was shot and killed by police.
