The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has successfully rescued kidnapping victim Jankie Satie Karim, 42, in a coordinated tactical operation, while two suspects have been killed and one arrested in connection with the crime.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Monday officers executed a high-risk rescue operation at a house along Toco Main Road, Rampanalgas, where Karim had been held hostage for eight days. The operation was led by units from the Multi-Option Police Section (MOPS), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and Special Investigations Unit (SIU), acting on verified intelligence related to her abduction on July 13 near her home in Valsayn.
The mission resulted in the safe recovery of Mrs. Karim, who was immediately medically assessed and reunited with her family, the fatal shooting of a male hostage taker during the confrontation and the arrest of a female suspect, believed to have secured the hostage.
