“It is an ad hoc, half-baked, knee-jerk and arbitrary policy. This cannot be what winning feels like.”
So said former minister of tourism, culture and the arts, Randall Mitchell in commenting on the ban placed on the holding of fetes at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Jean Pierre Complex and the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and at all Ministry of Sport facilities.
Asked to comment yesterday, Mitchell said: “First we heard from the Honourable Prime Minister that fetes in Brian Lara Cricket Academy will be banned. Then we heard from the chairman of UDeCOTT that all fetes and events at all UDeCOTT facilities will be banned. Then there was a back-track from the UDeCOTT chairman on the Waterfront for the ultra exclusive Hyatt Lime fete. Now we are hearing from the Prime Minister that all fetes/events at Hasely Crawford Stadium and Jean Pierre Complex are banned.”
