Municipal police officer dies in Cunaripo crash

Hours after Tuesday afternoon’s road accident along the Audrey Jeffers Highway, Cocorite, which claimed the life of an elderly man, a municipal police officer was killed in a head-on collision in Cunaripo that night.

Police said Municipal Police Constable Prye Nisha Persad, who was attached to the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, was driving along the Eastern Main Road, Cunaripo, around 7.30 p.m. when her vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remained unclear up to yesterday, and it was not immediately known whether Persad was travelling alone.
