The Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed that Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) Roger Gas­pard SC has or­dered that an in­quest be held in­to the death of Kern Patrick, which oc­curred on Thurs­day 12 June 2025, at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands two teenaged male sus­pects who were held in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter by of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI) In­tel­li­gence Unit, al­so were or­dered to be re­leased pend­ing the find­ings of the in­quest.

The de­ci­sion was made on Au­gust 20, 2025.
