United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a congratulatory call with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar following her April 28 electoral victory, reaffirming the partnership between nations and highlighting shared priorities for regional cooperation.
In a statement issued by U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, the Secretary extended best wishes to the newly elected Prime Minister and acknowledged the democratic process through which the people of Trinidad and Tobago expressed their will.
“Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to congratulate her on being elected,” Bruce stated.
