THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said yesterday Trinidad and Tobago is not currently under a 'hot spell', during which temperatures typically climb to at least 34.0°C over a consistent period.

In a statement to the Express, the TTMS clarified that, 'Although elevated temperatures are being experienced, the established threshold for a hot spell in Trinidad and Tobago has not been met. Consequently, no official warning is warranted at this time.'

The Met Service was responding to an article in this newspaper which appeared yesterday, under the headline, 'Scorching heat grips T&T; hot spell continues today.'
