(Kaieteur News) – Guyana’s senior men’s national basketball team has been handed a major opportunity to advance its international programme after being named the replacement team for the second round of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers.
The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) yesterday confirmed that Guyana will enter the competition following the withdrawal of Antigua and Barbuda, having been identified as the next highest-ranked men’s national team in the Caribbean.
The opportunity gives Guyana a pathway to continue its pursuit of a place in the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Qualifiers and provides the national programme with another opportunity to test itself against some of the region’s strongest basketball nations.
