Senate marks Sparrow’s passing with minute of silence

Members of the Senate yesterday observed a minute’s silence to mark the passing of calypso giant Slinger “Mighty Sparrow” Francisco, with senators describing him as a defining voice in Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural history.

Sparrow, 91, died on Sunday at his New York home following a brief illness.
