The GovÂernÂment will acÂcord caÂlypÂso icon Dr Slinger “Mighty SparÂrow” FranÂcisÂco an ofÂfiÂcial state-asÂsistÂed fuÂnerÂal, with CulÂture and ComÂmuÂniÂty DeÂvelÂopÂment MinÂisÂter Michelle BenÂjamin alÂso anÂnouncÂing a naÂtionÂal tribÂute and othÂer plans to hoÂnÂour his legaÂcy.
BenÂjamin made the anÂnounceÂments in the House of RepÂreÂsenÂtaÂtives yesÂterÂday as she paid tribÂute to SparÂrow, who died in New York on SunÂday, at the age of 91, surÂroundÂed by his famÂiÂly.
She said a comÂmitÂtee had alÂready been conÂstiÂtutÂed to work with SparÂrow’s famÂiÂly to enÂsure he reÂceives “a fuÂnerÂal fit for a legÂend”.
