A coconut vendor was gunned down while sitting with his girlfriend in St Augustine on Thursday evening after a lone gunman emerged from a vehicle and opened fire, police said.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Amar Bissoon, of Dookiesingh Street Extension, St Augustine.

According to investigators, around 6.30 p.m. Bissoon was sitting on the pavement opposite Samaroo Avenue along Dookiesingh Street Extension with his girlfriend, selling coconuts when a white Nissan AD Wagon, registration PDA 1569, pulled up in front of them.
