MIC-IT And PTSC Strengthen Maintenance Skills Through Welding Programme

MIC Institute of Technology Limited (MIC-IT) and the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) recognised five PTSC employees at a certification ceremony held on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the MIC-IT Head Office Auditorium, following their successful completion of customised welding training designed around the repair and fabrication of bus components.

Delivered over 50 hours between 28 April and 16 June 2026, the training covered Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), combining theory, practical instruction, assessments and guided workplace site visits. Participants developed competencies in welding safety, fabrication, inspection and techniques applicable to bus floor panels, chassis and side body panels.

PTSC’s Maintenance Workshop staff Andre Ramlochan, Anthony Gittens, Joel Johnson, Rawle Voisin and Carl Campbell were all awarded with MIC-IT Level 2 Certificates of Achievement.
