…NDIA moves to stabilise structure
The Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday evening said that it was taking steps to stabilise a koker at Schoonord after a fishing boat reportedly came loose and pressed against the structure, resulting in the displacement of one of its doors. Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha and National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) Chairman Lionel Wordsworth were on site assessing the situation and the impact on drainage operations in the area. According to the Ministry, the NDIA has begun immediate intervention to secure the koker and prevent further disruption. As part of the response, stop logs are being installed to stabilise the structure and safeguard drainage operations.
The Ministry said the intervention is aimed at securing the koker while efforts continue to address the situation following the reported incident involving the fishing boat.
