Newly sworn-in Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism Satyakama “Kama” Maharaj says his focus will be on diversifying Trinidad and Tobago’s economy beyond oil and gas.

Maharaj, the founder and owner of Sacha Cosmetics, was sworn in by President Christine Kangaloo yesterday as a senator and minister of Government.

With Maharaj’s appointment, Persad-Bissessar’s Government now comprises 37 members—the Cabinet consists of 26 substantive ministers, along with five ministers in ministries, and six parliamentary secretaries.
