One day after his colleague was laid to rest, Special Reserve Police PC Anton Phillip appeared in court Wednesday charged with the manslaughter of PC Jamal Charles.
Appearing before Master Indira Chinebas he was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 and his next hearing date was set for January 12, 2026.
It was alleged that around 3.15 p.m. on September 11, PC Charles was on duty at a security booth located on the compound of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Kent House, Maraval with two other officers. According to police the two other men allegedly had their guns out of their holsters when a gunshot was heard.PC Charles was later found with a gunshot wound to the head.
