The Ministry of Education says it is aware of reports of a rat infestation at El Socorro South Government Primary School and is engaging staff and the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited to assess the situation.
The ministry responded after parents raised the issue during a small protest outside the school’s Lootoo Street compound.
Four parents said they have reported the problem to the school supervisor and the education district office since October last year. They pointed to an empty, overgrown lot next to the school, which they believe is the source of the infestation.
