Classes at San Fernando Central Secondary School were dismissed early on Monday after students and teachers spotted rats inside the building, prompting urgent calls from parents for swift intervention by the Ministry of Education.
Parents were informed through the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that rodent sightings had first been reported last Friday. The matter was raised with the school’s administration, the Ministry of Education, the San Fernando City Corporation, and other relevant agencies.
“Affected areas, including the Biology Lab Demo Room and an adjoining classroom, were baited, sanitised, and re-evaluated by health officials,” the PTA advised. However, sightings of rats again on Monday forced an early dismissal.
