Allegations of political links to drug cartels were traded in Parliament as tensions flared between Government and Opposition MPs yesterday.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar claimed the People’s National Movement (PNM) headquarters at Balisier House in Port of Spain was built with drug money.
Opposition MP Colm Imbert fired back, asking whether the Prime Minister was aware that two UNC “operatives” had stolen money from the construction of the Piarco International Airport and sent it to a drug cartel in Colombia.
