Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday assured East Indians in this country that they have nothing to fear.
He did so while lambasting Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who, in defending Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal against fresh allegations in the Estate Management and Business Development Company Ltd (EMBD) court matter, said it was “fabricated” and a racist strategy to campaign in the general election that “all them Indian is thief.”
Speaking at a news conference at Whitehall in Port of Spain, Rowley said he had planned to travel to Tobago yesterday morning for the weekend, but that plan changed as he felt it necessary to address the Express lead story headlined “Racist election plot”, and Persad-Bissessar’s comments.
