The spir­it of pa­tri­o­tism re­mains alive and well at Silk Cot­ton Dri­ve, Home­land Gar­dens, Cunu­pia, de­spite the can­cel­la­tion of this year’s In­de­pen­dence Day Pa­rade.

The rea­son? Res­i­dents have spent more than a decade mark­ing the na­tion­al day with their own brand of cel­e­bra­tion and that is not chang­ing this year.

The ini­tia­tive be­gan with a sim­ple idea: re­paint­ing a few worn bench­es.
