A Colombian national was on Tuesday sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking more than 55 kilograms (kg) of cocaine, while his co-accused was denied bail after pleading not guilty.
Revelino Achicue Ascue and Gerardo Martinez appeared at the Diamond Magistrates’ Courts, charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The charge alleged that on July 24 at Farm, East Bank Demerara, the two men had 55.296 kg of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.
