...Basdeo: A battle cry to her party tied to succession

PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar appears to have sounded a battle cry to the party tied to its succession of leadership in her references as UNC political leader to “savagery” and “total war” on Independence Day, political analyst Dr Maukesh Basdeo has said.

Speaking on TV6’s Morning Edition yesterday, Basdeo responded to an Independence Day message issued by the Prime Minister and UNC political leader on Monday to the “UNC family”, in which declared “steeliness and savagery” were required to define the party’s membership.

He said Persad-Bissessar seemed to be trying to convey that many problems were a result of poor decision-making, and “we have to take responsibility and formulate decisions from now, as we move forward”.
