A 67-year-old pensioner was killed on Saturday night after a fire engulfed a wooden home in Indian Walk, Princes Town.
The deceased has been identified as Gopaul Ramnanan, who lived in a room at the rear of the house located at LP 62 Third Company Road. The house was owned by 36-year-old Avinash Ramnath, who had been caring for Ramnanan.
Police said they responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m., where fire officers from the Mon Repos Fire Station were attempting to extinguish the blaze.
