A PRINCES TOWN grandmother who had been a victim of verbal abuse for more than a decade has been left homeless after fire destroyed her two-bedroom wooden home on Monday night, in what police are investigating as a suspected case of arson.
The woman, 68-year-old Savitree Ramoutar, was not at her St Julien Road, Naparima Mayaro Road, home when fire broke out around 7 p.m. Relatives said she was staying at the home of her daughter after she was threatened by a relative.
'She has been living in the house alone since her husband died 17 years ago. And since then, this person has been cursing and threatening her. We have made several reports to the Princes Town police,' a relative said.
