A mid-afternoon blaze destroyed a large section of Ice Connection Industries Ltd in Piarco on Wednesday, causing an estimated $15 million in damages.

Around 12:20 p.m., fire fighters received a report of smoke and flames at the company’s Lot 1B Oropune Gardens facility, located just off the Churchill Roosevelt Highway opposite Bhagwansingh’s Hardware.

Police officers, fire fighters, and emergency teams responded quickly. Fire officers from the Tunapuna, Arima, and Headquarters stations, along with a TT Prison Service water tanker and trucks from private contractor Sat Sais under the Water and Sewerage Authority, were mobilised to fight the inferno.
