A Woman Police Constable has been charged with three counts of larceny by trick in connection with a scheme to defraud a man of tens of thousands of dollars under the pretense of expediting a Firearm User’s Licence (FUL) application.
WPC Misty Mitchell was charged on Thursday by Acting Sgt. Joefield at the Caroni Police Station. She is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court at the Chaguanas Police Station today.
Police said the case stems from a report made on July 23rd, 2025, alleging that in March, the officer obtained $35,000 from a man by falsely claiming she could speed up his FUL application. In May, she allegedly demanded an additional $15,000.
