An "Indian Diaspora Day" scheduled for Emancipation Day has been reset to August 8, following public outrage over "disrespect" by the Indian High Commission in Port of Spain.
The controversy on Thursday triggered a letter from former tourism minister Randall Mitchell to Indian Prime Narendra Modi, seeking an “immediate review of the conduct of the High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago.”
Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit currently serves as Indian High Commissioner to T&T.
