A po­lice of­fi­cer was tak­en in­to cus­tody on Fri­day un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions.

Po­lice say around 4:45 pm on Au­gust 22, 2025, of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit served a Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­der on the of­fi­cer at the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion.

He was al­lowed to con­tact his at­tor­ney be­fore be­ing tak­en to a de­ten­tion fa­cil­i­ty and hand­ed over to prison au­thor­i­ties.
