Trinidad and Tobago’s 21-man squad for the 2026 Concacaf Men’s Under-17 qualifiers from February 3-12 has been confirmed, with the final squad being mostly made up of players who featured in a pair of friendlies away to Peru on January 28 and 30.
TT didn’t have the best of times in Lima, as they were hammered 6-0 in the first friendly on January 28, before falling 6-1 in the second friendly against the Peruvians just two days later. TT’s lone goal in the friendly series came through Donovan Drayton, who passed into the net from inside the area in the 25th minute of the second clash, after the opposing team won possession in a dangerous area through a high press. It was one of the few moments of joy for TT in Peru, though, as they trailed 4-1 at halftime before letting in two more goals in the second half.
The TT squad includes players such as goalkeeper Mikhail Clement, defenders Jeremiah Daniel, Sebastian James, and Kenai Richardson, midfielders Finn De Freitas and Antuan Louison, flanker Reagan Rowe, and Canadian-based Christian Pitt. There was no room in coach Randolph Boyce’s final squad for the trio of Nadeem Grant, Daniel Lewis and Jaylon Forbes, all of whom featured for the Peru matches.
Changes to the team’s final roster will be allowed in the event of serious injury or approved medical reasons, up to 24 hours before the opening match.
TT are in group A for the qualifiers alongside Barbados, Mexico, Saint Martin and Sint Maarten. With TT’s matches being played at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, coach Boyce and his staff will hope the team can use home advantage to good effect when they play the Bajans from 7 pm on February 3. TT will then play Saint Martin on February 5, Sint Maarten on February 9, before facing the Mexicans in what is expected to be the home team’s toughest assignment on February 12.
At the end of round-robin play, the eight group winners in these qualifiers will qualify directly for the Fifa Under-17 World Cup to be held in Qatar in November.
