Attorney Prakash Ramadhar, who represents the family of Fyzal Kurban, one of the men who died in the 2022 Paria diving tragedy, has issued a one-week deadline to the Government to pay $1 million in compensation to his family.
Speaking at a news conference at the offices of the Congress of the People (COP) in Curepe yesterday, Ramadhar outlined the financial struggles of the victims’ families, including the challenges faced by Kurban’s daughter in covering her tuition and living expenses in Canada. Kurban’s widow, Celisha Kurban, was present at the news conference.
According to Ramadhar, an outstanding balance of $600,000 in tuition fees is still to be paid, and she will be unable to complete her final semesters unless payments are made toward her outstanding fees, he said.
