OPPOSITION Leader Pennelope Beckles has criticised as “deeply misleading” a Government news conference led yesterday by Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers and Housing Minister Dr David Lee and has again called on the Prime Minister to address the nation.
Beckles asked “where is the Prime Minister?” in a Facebook post following the news conference at the United National Congress’ (UNC) headquarters in Chaguanas, where Sobers addressed Saturday’s extraction by the US military of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from his home in Caracas.
She opined that the country would have “reasonably” expected Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to be present at the news conference.
