Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Professor Prakash Persad, recently met with the GATE Standing Committee to explore ways to strengthen the programme and better meet the demands of Trinidad and Tobago’s education and workforce sectors.
During the meeting, the programme’s access and relevance were examined, as well as ways to further strengthen the connection between accredited programmes and employment opportunities.
Ways to respond to current and emerging workforce demands were also considered, to ensure students obtain relevant skills and qualifications to secure meaningful employment, while tertiary programmes meet the country’s national development goals.
