37 Days and Counting ...Mahipaul Demands Answers on MV Barima Salvage Delay

(Kaieteur News) – Opposition Member of Parliament Ganesh Mahipaul is demanding answers from President Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and the Government over what he described as 37 days of silence following the closure of tenders for the salvage of the sunken MV Barima.

Mahipaul’s criticism comes as newly opened financial bids show that three companies are vying for the multimillion-dollar salvage operation, with local firm B.K. International Inc. submitting the lowest offer.

The Barima capsized off Castle Flats, Essequibo Coast, nearly two months ago, leaving families awaiting answers and recovery of the vessel.
