Music, dance and a colourful motorcade set the tone on Saturday as the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs officially launched the 2026 Barbados National Senior Games, encouraging older Barbadians to embrace healthy and active ageing.
The motorcade travelled from Pelican Village to Golden Square, where senior athletes, dancers and supporters gathered for the opening ceremony shortly after midday.
Speaking at the event, deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Mark Franklin highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for the island’s growing senior population.
