POLICE officer attached to the Anti-Extortion Unit and a civilian were brought before the courts on Wednesday in connection with firearm and ammunition offences arising out of an incident on the Caroni River earlier this month.
Police Constable Kushal Karamthesingh and Ramjit Ramlochan made their first appearance virtually before Master Rhea Libert where the indictably laid charges were formally read.
Karamthesingh is accused of several offences, including unlawfully transferring his Glock 48 pistol and ten rounds of 9mm ammunition, possessing three 12-gauge cartridges, carrying legal firearms and ammunition in a public place without his Firearm User’s Licence, improper use of a TTPS-issued shotgun, and being unauthorised to retain both the shotgun and five rounds of TTPS-issued 12-gauge ammunition.
